Here is an example of why the HBBB should not be a “READ ONLY” forum
*unless* you post what the HBBB “monitors” allow. There are people who
could benefit from the words of others … I am one of those others, but I
am not welcome there. Maybe Elaine is one who doesn’t want to hear anything
I have to say … but here goes anyway, only because I care about people and
see no reason for suffering unnecessarily when there is help available.
from their forum because “they” didn’t want anything written about the TMJ
iatroepidemic as it applies to “how did you/we get this way” (it would not
apply to everyone in HBBB). Once it was determined that I wrote a book,
that book, I was on my way out their door; they would see to it. And they
did. It is their loss as well as mine. I am denied the opportunity to
communicate with people who might want to know what I think about this or
that … and they are denied the opportunity to “hear/read” my words. Why?
I guess because there is great fear about a word: iatroepidemic or a book,
“The TMJ Iatroepidemic”.
I have no way to know the technically correct diagnosis of what Elaine means
by “closed down with scar tissue” except that it is possible that she is
experiencing recurring ankylosis inside the joint with either bone or
fibrous tissue making it physically impossible for her to open her mouth
beyond what is now 10mm of verticle opening. Only a proper history and
physical by a qualified dental professional with imaging etc. can determine
the correct diagnosis as it applies to the patient.
I am not promoting the device made by TMJ Concepts; I am merely reporting
that it has been used successfully to treat conditions such as what Elaine
is describing. She owes herself, or someone owes her, a proper surgical
evaluation. If ankylosis is the issue, it is likely to worsen, and the
surgery to remove this “tissue” that fuses mandible to skull will only
become more and more dangerous with time.
If Elaine wants to write to me, my email address is tmjiatroepidemic@c**.net
I know of no other way than this method to attempt delivery of this message.

The word “few” doesn’t really mean anything in particular. A very small
percentage of the whole is likely to tell more if only we could know how
many people represent the whole. If less than 1% of all the people who
complain of “TMJ” related problems could truly benefit from a surgical
procedure … the actual number of people affected is still a complete
