Knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private
interpretation. For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but men spake
from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.

Amen. Thank you for that scripture tbc. You know something? I have to
admit, that for a long time prophecy has bothered me. I have, in the past,
seen much harm come from the words, “Thus saith the Lord…” So often we
here, “I have a word from God…” or “God wants me to tell you…” Each
time there is a “word” from God, I measure it against the scripture, and
watch for truth, testing the spirits as you will. For we know that the
devil also counterfits the gifts of God, and if we are not careful, we can
be fooled into believing a message of the enemy is a message from God.
I know that prophecy is very real, and still alive today. And, it is
practiced in the church I go to now, and in this church, it is weighed very
carefully against the Word of God, which all prophecy, words of knowledge,
tongues and interpretation and such should be.
We need to be so very, very careful that what we offer “As from the
Lord…” is truly from the Lord, for false prophets are very strictly
