I’m using a P55 module as an add-on to my RD200 Piano.
I was wondering if these sounds came from a later RD piano (RD500…RD600??),
and if they were available on any of the SR-JV80 boards??
Also, are the RD200 Electric Pianos (same as P330, MKS20, RD300, RD250)

I believe the P-55’s main piano sound comes from the JV-80 synth. It
sounds very similar.
There’s an SA-piano sound on the Pop-expansion board for the Roland
JV/XP series. It’s useful, but a bit unclear in the mix.
Also the ‘Piano3’ from various Roland GM/GS devices should resemble an
RD, but of course it’s a lot thinner.
For an ‘electric grand’ I prefer the CP-80 samples from the Yamaha

I think you’re right. Not the “new classic Pianos” but the E-Piano and the
“Electric Piano”. They were driven by the “SA Synthesis I think.
Yes I think so. At least they were used in the FP 8, also some of the lower
class digital Pianos like KR 33/55. The kind of synthesis furthermore was used
in the MK 80 by rhodes and maybe the VK 1000.

The P-55 uses the same synthesis as the SC-55 SoundCanvas (PCM samples
with TVF filters), only the samples are different. There is no SA
synthesis in the P-55.
